At Central Mass Flag Worcester, the safety and well-being of our players, coaches, and spectators are our top priorities. To ensure everyone's protection, we have established the following guidelines regarding weather conditions and event cancellations:
Weather Policy:
Rain:
- Games will proceed as scheduled unless there is lightning present. Players should come prepared with appropriate rain gear (e.g., waterproof jackets, hats) and suitable footwear for wet conditions.
- If field conditions become unsafe or unplayable due to heavy rain, league organizers will assess the situation and communicate any necessary delays or cancellations.
Thunderstorms and Lightning:
- Safety is our primary concern. If thunder is heard or lightning is seen within a 10-mile radius of the field, all activities will be immediately suspended. Everyone must seek shelter indoors or in a designated safe area until it is safe to resume.
Communication:
- We will provide timely updates through our official communication channels if weather conditions impact game schedules or activities. Participants and spectators should check for updates on our website, social media platforms, or through the specified communication method.
Delayed Games:
- In the event of inclement weather, we may delay games by up to 30 minutes to allow conditions to improve. If delays exceed 30 minutes, subsequent games may experience adjusted start times. Your patience and understanding are appreciated as we navigate weather-related challenges.
Cancellations:
Events, practices, and/or games are only canceled under the following circumstances:
- Severe Thunderstorm Warning
- Hurricane Warning
- Tornado Warning
- Blizzard Warning
- Ice Storm Warning
- Excessive Heat Warning
- Host facility requires cancellation for any reason they deem necessary
League closures due to weather are rare. If cancellations occur due to the above reasons, practices and games are unlikely to be rescheduled and are non-refundable.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we prioritize the safety and well-being of all involved. If you have any questions or concerns regarding our weather policy, please do not hesitate to contact us.
